The first concert of the season will be doubly festive:
\nKammerata Luxembourg will be invited for the first time to the Konz Musik Festival; at the same time, we celebrate the 200th birthday of C\u00e9sar Franck. Together with the pianist Joseph Moog, we will perform a mature work by the Li\u00e8ge composer, the great Quintet for piano and strings. Here, C\u00e9sar Franck puts into practice his concept of thematic coherence between all the movements, while at the same time breathing new life into French chamber music.
\nThe Trio in G major by the young Claude Debussy is not without its reminders of Franck. At the age of 18, Debussy composed this score in Fiesole, Italy. He had gone there as accompanist and piano teacher to Tschaikowsky’s patron, Nadeschda von Meck. The work is the first clear evidence of the young composer’s talent; the scherzo in particular illustrates his instinct for sweet mixtures of sound.<\/p>\n
