Venice, by virtue of its geographical position and its economic and socio-cultural exchanges with the East, has always attracted a large number of artists.
\nLong before 1600, the “Serenissima”, a place with an extravagant atmosphere, allowed many musicians to develop their creativity without limits. The art of composition took a turn that was as virtuosic as it was innovative and gave rise to a new genre, the “stile moderno”. This new writing suggests the evolution of the “stile antico”, a polyphony dedicated to sacred music, towards a more brilliant music with a secular theme in which the instruments push their limits through virtuoso and ever more inventive techniques.
\nThis programme shows the creativity and inexhaustible richness of the composers of the Venetian Seicento and their influences.
\nIt should be noted that this is the first time in the Grand Duchy that works by the Hungarian lutenist and composer Valentin Bacfarc – active in Central Europe, France and Italy – will be performed in concert.<\/p>\n
