Of course, now I’m keeping an eye on him and his piece…\u2019, Johannes Brahms said of Walter Rabl’s Opus 1. This piano quartet won a competition organised by the Wiener Tonk\u00fcnstlerverein and, stylistically influenced by Brahms, shows off Rabl’s talent. Later, he became a conductor, lieder accompanist and singing teacher, including general musical director in Magdeburg, and conducted works by Strauss, Schreker and Korngold.<\/p>\n

The string trios Blau, des Falters Fl\u00fcgel and Hinter den Blitzen, Rot by Claude Lenners are part of his Zen-Archiv. These works reflect colours that determine the tonality of the music. Blue represents calm sonorities, while red explores extreme worlds of sound.<\/p>\n

Mozart’s piano quartets are considered early examples. He was looking for a dialogue between the piano and the strings. In the piano quartet in E flat major, the influence of his opera Le Nozze di Figaro is evident, particularly in the opera buffa-style finale.<\/p>\n
