With this concert, Kammerata Luxembourg offers a musical dialogue between Arnold Schoenberg and Olivier Messiaen \u2013 two composers who, at first glance, could not be more different. One, a pioneer of atonality; the other, a sound mystic captivated by the sacred. And yet, both share the desire to push the boundaries of musical language. Composed in 1906, Schoenberg\u2019s Chamber Symphony No.\u202f1, Op.\u202f9, unfolds in a single movement, capturing the tension of a fading Romanticism; Anton Webern later created an intimate transcription for quintet. Messiaen\u2019s Quartet for the End of Time, written in captivity in 1941, juxtaposes celestial visions with profound inner contemplation, interwoven with birdsong as echoes of freedom. In the encounter of these two works emerges a resonance between radical modernity and suspended eternity.<\/p>\n
