European Masterpieces – Chefs d’oeuvre européens
Concert of the festival “Wendländischer Musikherbst”
Tonight’s concert brings together four chamber music masterpieces spanning two centuries, showcasing the full range of colours offered by clarinet, violin and piano. From Viennese Classicism to French modernism and late Romanticism, the programme unfolds as a richly varied musical journey.
The evening opens with Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio, admired for its lightness and the subtle interplay between the instruments. Darius Milhaud’s Suite then takes us into 20th-century France, with music shaped by rhythmic vitality, clarity and elegance.
One of Franz Schubert’s final works, The Shepherd on the Rock combines lyrical intensity with moments of dazzling virtuosity. The concert concludes with Poulenc’s Suite from L’Invitation au château, bringing together French elegance, wit and melodic charm in a spirited finale.
