With two compositions for nonet, Kammerata reveres the České noneto, founded in 1924 and one of the oldest established chamber music formations still in existence today. Bohuslav Martinů wrote a nonet in 1959, on the 25th anniversary of the Czech ensemble, and in November of the same year it performed Witold Lutosławski’s Dance Preludes for the first time, in a new version of the work originally written for clarinet and piano. Between the two nonettes a new work by the Luxembourg composer Nik Bohnenberger for seven players will be performed. Bohnenberger raises the question of what a world from which people have disappeared, would sound like. The compositorial answer to this question is guided by the idea that man-made structures still continue to emit sounds, just like the animal kingdom and the plant world.
