Improvised music and written music, fixed down to the smallest details, rarely come together in a colorful blend. Yet, the two forms are closely connected: Improvised music undoubtedly arises from the present moment, but improvisation is built upon elements that have already been heard, read, seen, and played. During the concert in Mersch, a few masterpieces of 20th-century chamber music with a small ensemble will be performed. Among these, Maurice Clement, known in the Grand Duchy for his masterful organ improvisation, will refer to the piano, improvising on what has been heard before. But that’s not all, a visual element is also added. Photos of nature by Norbert Ketter (1942-1997) and Raymond Clément (*1944) are projected on a large screen to accompany the music. For the audience, this results in a particularly intense and enduring artistic experience.
