Jazz at Ancien Cinéma – The Veda Bartringer Quartet

Concert of the MusicDays Vianden 2026 festival

The album Rise and Shine reveals a new and compelling side of guitarist Veda Bartringer. Drawing inspiration from film music, orchestral writing, and artists such as Snarky Puppy and Petros Klampanis, the album features seven original compositions that move fluidly between classical music and jazz, with a strong sense of storytelling running throughout.

Each piece unfolds like a conversation — between the immediacy of jazz and the refinement of classical music, between harmonic richness and melodic clarity. Together, the musicians create a distinctive sound that adds a fresh voice to the contemporary European jazz scene.

Veda is joined by Laurent Peckels on bass, Julien Cuvelier on saxophone, and Maxime Magotteaux on drums.

The project was developed during a creative residency at Opderschmelz in Dudelange, Luxembourg, where the album was also recorded. Supported by Opderschmelz and the Œuvre Grand-Duchesse Charlotte, and presented in collaboration with KulturLX, Rise and Shine reflects the spirit of artistic collaboration and cultural exchange at the heart of the project.
