Impressions of Latin America – Regards sur l’Amérique latine
Echoes of a continent
This programme takes audiences on a musical journey between Europe and Latin America, where vibrant colours, compelling rhythms and evocative soundscapes come together in a rich and varied tapestry. The evening opens with Alberto Ginastera’s String Quartet No. 1, a work of striking energy and expressive intensity, deeply rooted in the musical traditions of Argentina.
The music of Heitor Villa-Lobos reveals the remarkable breadth of his musical language, where popular influences meet sophisticated compositional craftsmanship. From the refined dialogue between flute and bassoon in the Bachianas Brasileiras No. 6, inspired by J.S. Bach, to the rhythmic vitality of the Chôros, his works capture the unique spirit and diversity of Brazilian music.
With his Divertissement, Jean Françaix brings a touch of French wit, elegance and lightness to the programme, before Ginastera returns with Impresiones de la puna, transporting listeners to the vast, windswept landscapes of the Andean highlands.
Featuring a series of distinctive instrumental combinations and an exceptionally rich palette of colours, this programme offers a musical experience that is at once vibrant, poetic and deeply expressive.

The Music & Wine series brings together exclusive wine tastings and outstanding concerts.
This concert will be accompanied by a selection of wines from Georges Schilz’s Domaine FRU.
