« Der schöne Mon will untergon,
für Leid nicht mehr mag scheinen,
die Sterne lan ihr Glitzen stahn,
mit mir sie wollen weinen. »
Friedrich von Spee (1591-1635)

It is evening. The drawing room of a privileged family. People are chatting, passing the time with parlour games, singing, in short, living for themselves in peace and harmony. But slowly, disturbing news penetrates behind the closed doors of the living room; on the radio there is talk of diseases, crises, wars. The once self-evident carefree attitude fades and in this new hopelessness new questions arise: How will things continue? What can we do to change things for the better? How can we keep ourselves and the world alive?
The development of the play Weeping Moon is an attempt, on the one hand, to hold up a distorting mirror to our society that both feels and caricatures its abysses, and on the other hand, to create a unique mixture between drama, popular and contemporary music. A new text inspired by Kafka, Pilnjak and Mayakovsky, among others, will be developed together with the performers. The musical part of the production consists of a contrasting selection of folk songs and chansons, as well as contemporary music by the Luxembourg composer Claude Lenners. (including the premiere of Telefonitis).
