Waldesruhe und Jagdfanfaren

An instrument closely tied to nature, the horn unfolds a sound spectrum ranging from the distant call to the resounding fanfare. In this concert, Luxembourgish horn player Leo Halsdorf, together with the musicians of Kammerata Luxembourg, explores the full expressive richness of the instrument through works by Mozart, Kurtág, Reuter, and Brahms.

Mozart’s Horn Quintet, composed in 1782 for his virtuoso friend Joseph Leutgeb, opens the evening with a warm and velvety sonority, blending brilliance with chamber-like intimacy. In Signs, Games and Messages, György Kurtág offers short miniatures oscillating between allusion and silence, like poetic fragments. Marcel Reuter’s Infra la neve continues this thread with delicate nuances that sketch a wintry landscape of fragile intensity. Finally, Brahms’ Horn Trio in E-flat major combines the natural timbre of the horn with a romantic depth, shifting between tender melancholy and radiant energy.

The result is an evening where serenity and passion, contemplation and festive brilliance converge, carried by the unique voice of the horn.
