Premiere of De magia, a new work by the composer Nigji Sanges (commissioned in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture).
Arnold Schönberg’s Kammersymphonie op. 9 certainly has sumptuous themes, but the composer melts the four usual movements of a symphony into one and reduces the size of the large romantic orchestra to fifteen instruments. Webern continued this effort at condensation and reduction with his transcription for quintet.
After attempts spanning seventeen years! – Fauré completed his first keyboard quintet. He wrote to his wife on 31 August 1904: “The work of recasting, balancing and improving the first piece has been very hard. And now when I read and hear it in my head, it seems to me that it has an air of spontaneity, how deceptive.”
“Composing is about creating new worlds and spaces of sound. From this world and spaces, from the roots of the human: Nature! To stay alive, the elements and substances (sounds) move, as the body moves through gesture and dance… Dances and music to reach trance. Trance to reach other worlds…” (Nigji Sanges)
